Emotional intelligence is a language to return to. It is the bridge between the logic we use to survive and the energy we need to feel alive and thrive.
Welcome. Before we go any further, let me tell you where this comes from. The true version.
I didn't start with emotional intelligence. I started with social anxiety, depression, and a deep sense of not belonging. No one taught me that the energy I was born with was something to love.
So I did what made sense: I tried to understand it from the outside. A degree in Communications and Psychology. Years as a language interpreter. Then a chartered accountant - over fifteen years in numbers, auditing, and comfort in tangible data.
Still. Something felt missing.
I kept looking. Deeper. Beneath the surface; massage therapy, yoga, Reiki, martial arts, family constellations. Always experimenting, always sensing there was more.
Then my daughter was born.
Through her eyes, I saw what I'd never seen in myself: energy that wasn't broken, just un-nurtured. I remembered curiosity. Adventure. Being alive. All the things no classroom ever taught me how to tend.
That's when I had a breakthrough: emotional intelligence isn't something you acquire. It's a language to return to. The bridge between the logic we use to survive and the energy we need to feel alive and thrive.
Here's what I've come to believe about the leap so many of us are quietly circling.
It was never really about leaving something behind. It's about who you become on the way.
Because the freedom you build on the inside - the pacing, the self-trust, the regulated nervous system - is the very thing that shows up on the outside as leadership presence. You can't lead others, or your own life, from a place you haven't built in yourself first.
Freedom and presence are the same muscle. Build one, and you're building the other.
Today, this is the work.
I create awareness around integrating cognitive and emotional intelligence, facilitate workshops, and support sustainable, accountable momentum as an ICF-accredited coach and somatic practitioner - the work of Leverage Your EQ and The Whole Intelligence Approach. In it, I hold the structure; you create the flow, through your own non-linear unlearning and relearning.
Twenty-five years of watching human behaviour, a psychology foundation, an accountant's lens, a holistic streak, and a lifetime of questioning, unlearning, and relearning. Now it's time to share it.
Because we're all meant to fit. Not by squeezing into a mould, but by discovering how our own edges interlock with everyone else's. The puzzle isn't fixed. It flows, and it's created as we show up.
The question is just: how?
What you'll find here
This is my attempt at an answer - one small piece at a time. Every issue is one short read: one idea, ending in something to sit with, something to try, and something to carry. This is a gift you can open whenever your nervous system has room for it.
You won't find a formal "about me" here. You'll get to know me the way we get to know anyone worth knowing: slowly, through what we share over time.
So: welcome. I'm really glad you're here.
